About

C.P. McDillI’m Christopher P. McDill. A visual artist, recording artist and writer. I was born on the south coast of the United States, spent a portion of my childhood in Europe, and traveled a lot during the early part of my life.

I attended college for 8 years, starting as an art student. I changed my focus halfway through, and ended up with a degree in Comparative Religion/Anthropology. I lived in New York City through the 90s, and worked in health food stores and libraries. In 2003 I moved to Massachusetts, where I’ve since settled in a cozy cottage with a big garden near Cape Cod Bay with my spiritual and artistic collaborator, Aria Nadii.

My visual art consists mainly of collage and mixed-media works. My writing takes the form of abstract poetry. In 2002 I started making music, inspired by a collage-like approach to sound (I have recorded over 45 albums, and more are planned).

I’m active in many recording projects, all on my netlabel Webbed Hand: Saluki Regicide, Djinnestan, Drone Wallah, Akashic Crow’s Nest, Tree Helicopter, Rolling Calf Sinfonette and Rowboat Magicians. I am also curator of a popular ambient project called Rain, which involves CD-length mood pieces recorded by a growing number of artists.

The independent music label Webbed Hand Records started in 2003 as a home for my own work, and has since expanded to include work by many other artists. It’s fast becoming one of the top netlabels, and has been getting play on free-form college radio, netradio and podcasts. Visit the homepage of Webbed Hand, where you’ll find over 100 albums completely free to download.
